Draping The Green Saree

The humble piece of cloth- the saree seems to be a tough task for many for its draping methods. KALKI simplifies it for you and by the time we are done with the steps, you will be a saree-draping pro for yourself.

  • Step-1- Tucking The Saree

Tuck in the saree and continue to the side and till your navel to make one complete round.

  • Step-2- Create Pallu Or Palla Of The Saree

Pick the other end of the saree, pleat it neatly with your fingers, and place it over your left shoulder. We can call this ‘pallu’. Adjust the pallu to your desired length.

  • Step-3- Tucking In The Loose Fabric

Take the loose fabric from the left side and tuck it in diagonally somewhere near the navel.

  • Step-4- Making Front Pleats

Take the remaining fabric at the front. Now using your left hand, start folding the saree from your thumb towards your small finger. Create the first pleat by bringing the fabric over your palm towards your little finger. Once you have the first pleat done, secure it in place using your thumb to hold it down. Now continue making 6 to 7 pleats and tuck them in at the front, inside the petticoat or the skirt again, at the navel point in the center.

  • Step-5- Adjust The Pallu On Arms

Spread the pallu out and adjust the awkward gathers if any. You can form neat pleats if you do not want to have a wide pallu or a spread pallu. And you are done with your draping.

Here Is How You Can Achieve A Neat & Elegant Drape With Your Green Saree

There is a lot that goes into draping a saree perfectly and maintaining the pleats. Here are a few hacks that can help you manage and create a balance with pleats, pallu, and overall draping. Choose a pretty, elegant, and stylish green saree for your saree draping. For a neat and appealing pleated look, you can choose a high-quality plain or minimal embroidered green saree or a green saree with a thin golden border.

  • Wear your footwear before starting to drape as the height of your heels has a lot to do with the length of your saree.
  • Shapewear holds the saree in place. However, a petticoat can also make a saree appear bulkier. Choose the fabric of your shapewear based on your comfort and saree fabric.
  • You can pleat the saree in advance for that flawless appearance. Pleating and folding during special events can be a hassle and take time.
  • Also, choose the fabric of the green saree depending on your body type. The fabric has the power to destroy or make an outfit. Silk, chiffon, and georgette are light whereas cotton is light but appears puffed up. Banarasi sarees can look heavy on short-height women or women with petite bodies.
