You know how they say, “When you know, you know”?
Well, Priya Mishra knew — about her partner, her wedding location, and surprisingly… her lehenga too.
What started as a college friendship back in 2014 turned into a slow-burn, long-haul romance that led to a magical, minimal, and soulful wedding in Kathmandu, Nepal. And in the middle of it all? A spontaneous trip to KALKI’s Delhi South Ex store — that ended with her saying yes to an olive green lehenga that had “Priya energy” written all over it.
Let’s rewind. This one’s special.
From Kurukshetra to ‘Chooda & Sindoor’
Priya moved from Nepal to India in 2014 to study at NIT Kurukshetra — a decision that quietly set everything in motion. That’s where she met Kashish, a soft-spoken Noida boy who started out as a classmate and ended up becoming her forever.
“We were friends for a decade, dated for five years, and finally got married in November 2024.”
We love a good campus-to-chooda arc. ✨
As they built a life together in Delhi/NCR, there was one thing Priya held close: her roots. So when it came time to decide on the wedding destination, there was no hesitation.
“Getting married in Nepal wasn’t just important — it was non-negotiable.”
And while the wedding was deeply rooted in her Nepali traditions, Priya thoughtfully wove in her husband’s Punjabi culture too — from chooda-clad wrists to a red saree for the pheras. No Nath, no over-the-top accessories — just personal choices, each one full of meaning.
The Venue They Almost Didn’t Choose (But Thank God They Did)
Hotel Yak & Yeti wasn’t a love-at-first-sight kind of pick. But on a second visit, something clicked. Not because of the ballrooms or banquet deals — but because of a staircase. Yep.
At the top stood the Garud temple — quiet, majestic, and off-limits for wedding ceremonies. But Priya? She had a feeling.
“The varmala had to happen there. It just had to.”
Long story short: she convinced them. (Iconic.)
The rest of the wedding was styled to let the venue do the talking — soft pinks, vibrant reds, minimal decor, and an open-air mandap under a tree. Green, serene, and full of love.
The Lehenga That Found Her First
Let’s talk about that olive green moment.
Priya wasn’t even looking for her bridal lehenga hen she walked into KALKI’s South Extension store with her mother-in-law. The mission? Casual trousseau scouting. Reception outfit browsing. Vibing.
But then… she saw it. An earthy, olive green lehenga that wasn’t loud or over-embellished. It didn’t scream for attention. It just felt right.
“It was one of the first few lehengas I tried, and I instantly connected with it.”
The color? Unique. The embroidery? Just enough. The vibe? Priya-coded.
She FaceTimed her mom and sister. They didn’t need to say a word. Their teary smiles said it all.
“I’m an Earth sign, I love earthy tones, and green always pulls me in. It felt like the lehenga had chosen me.”
She only added sleeves. No other changes. No second-guessing.
A Look That Let Her Be Herself
Brides who know who they are? They shine different. Priya styled her bridal look with quiet confidence and intention — not excess. She went for clean makeup, glowing skin, and a natural flush that let her radiance speak for itself.
Her jewellery was minimal, because for her, less truly was more. A thoughtful touch of red and pink in her accessories brought the whole palette together, beautifully echoing the florals and her red saree for the pheras. “I didn’t want to be overpowered by my outfit. I wanted to feel like myself — and I did,” she shared. And honestly? That balance. That calm energy. That olive green lehenga against the lush, earthy Kathmandu backdrop? Pure chef’s kiss.
The Moment the Mandap Held Its Breath
The roaring celebration of a love ten years in the making — Priya’s wedding wasn’t staged, it was felt. As she stepped into that olive green lehenga, the energy in the air shifted. Conversations dropped to a hush. Heads turned. For a second, even the mandap seemed to pause and take her in.
But this moment held more than just beauty — it held memory. Priya had lost her father the year before, after getting engaged in 2022. His absence was heavy, but his presence was everywhere — in the love, in the quiet strength she carried, and in the way everyone paused to feel him there, with her.
And then came the reactions. Her sister covered her mouth in awe, half gasping, half crying. But it was the silent, unscripted embrace between her mother and mother-in-law that brought the entire room to tears — the kind of moment that doesn’t need a soundtrack. Two women, from two worlds, holding on to each other with pride and love — both knowing what it meant to raise a daughter who could love and be loved like this.
And her mother — wrapped in a KALKI saree of her own — stood as tall and graceful as ever. A woman of resilience. A reflection of everything Priya had become.
“You look like yourself — but shining,” someone whispered. And it couldn’t have been said better.
Thank You for Letting Us Be a Small Part of Your Big, Beautiful Story
From that quiet, goosebump-worthy moment on the staircase at Hotel Yak & Yeti in Kathmandu to the loud, love-soaked cheers of a decade-long friendship finally turning into forever — Priya’s wedding was a masterclass in intuition, elegance, and staying true to herself. And that olive green lehenga? Let’s just say… it didn’t just fit. It belonged. Every thread felt like it was stitched for her spirit — calm, grounded, and effortlessly graceful.
