Call it patience, fate, faith, a stubborn heart, or a combination of all, Ansh’s and my love story is a mixed bag of all these elements. And I, Roma Nigam, must confess that had it not been for our grit and determination, we would not have been able to witness a fairytale wedding that withstood all hardships and stood victorious.
The Struggles, The Perseverance And The Victory
Our love story started in the society where we lived. We began as best friends, and after a rock-solid friendship of two years, our relationship took a new twist as we fell in love with each other. Our story wasn’t a smooth sailing boat; there were turbulences in the form of personal struggles for 5-6 years. Friction between our families escalated problems further. Everyone around us, including the two of us, thought that this love story was fragile, and would give in to the challenges with no future. However, God had some other plans for us, which were revealed later on. During this difficult period, I poured my heart into twelve love letters and left one empty for him to pen down his feelings when the time seemed right.
After being in a relationship for ten years and sorting out all the problems between both families, our love was sealed and solemnized, and we tied the knot in a blissful wedding in Goa. Ansh did not let any hindrances affect our relationship in any way. He stood like a rock, with the belief that come what may, we shall be together one day. I feel blessed to have a partner who dared to dream, believe, and make it happen.
We chose the beautiful land of beaches and palm trees, Goa, as our wedding destination. I love pastel colours with a pop of vibrant colours, so keeping my taste and the wedding destination in mind, I was sure that I didn’t want a red bridal lehenga for my wedding.
“Mission Hunt For Magnificent Bridal Lehenga” Accomplished
During my first visit to KALKI, Mumbai I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon a spectacular wedding lehenga that captured my heart at first sight. Despite having a gorgeous option already, I chose to explore additional alternatives before making a final decision. This quest led me to renowned bridal dress stores in Mumbai and Surat, but none could match the magnificence and royal charm of the lehenga I had fallen for at KALKI.
After two more visits, one with my sister and her husband, who were left speechless upon seeing me in the traditional Indian wedding dress, and the second with my dad, who approved of it instantly, I made my final decision to purchase the lehenga, which was nothing less than a masterpiece.

The Surreal Wedding Experience
My wedding venue resembled a tranquil kingdom of fairies, adorned with a pastel theme. The natural landscape featured green palm trees, various shades of blue from the ocean, and an enchanting sunset, captivating onlookers and leaving them mesmerized. The mandap was set up beautifully with multicoloured roses and strands of white flowers. Golden-colored pots stacked one on top of the other on all corners gave traditional vibes to the special occasion.
Fam Jam
The guests, including my bridesmaids and sisters—who also held the phoolon ki chadar while accompanying me towards the mandap—followed the colour code and looked resplendent in pastel colours. My mother looked exceptionally graceful in a burgundy outfit matching the colour of my veil.
Ansh had remained calm throughout these years and patiently awaited D-day. So, I thought, why not test his patience a little more? I kept all the information about my bridal dress a secret, wanting it to be a surprise and to witness his genuine reaction on that special day. As expected, he became emotional upon seeing me in my bridal avatar, and I couldn’t control my tears either. Finally, God answered our prayers, and the day of our union had arrived.
As the die-hard romantic that he is, Ansh wrote a few lines dedicated to me in the letter I had left blank. He read them out on the mandap in front of everyone. This heartfelt gesture left me overjoyed and filled with gratitude.
The Hazaaron Main Ek Lehenga
I opted for a stunning purplish-pink raw silk bridal lehenga for my special day. The aari and zardozi work embroidery on both the lehenga and blouse created a scintillating effect. Paired with two exquisite dupattas—one in pink and the other in burgundy—the ensemble looked very majestic. The intricate embroidery, with its fine detailing, left everyone in awe of my wedding dress and sparked curiosity about the lehenga’s weight and my comfort level in the bridal dress. Complemented by eye-catching bridal jewellery, including a maang tikka, matha patti, necklace set, nose ring, and colourful bangles, I felt like a princess in a state of euphoria.
Ansh also made a charming groom in a white embroidered sherwani paired with a pink turban and dupatta. The pearl necklace and white juttis added a dapper touch, leaving me spellbound.
Kuch Pyaar ke Pal
The shutterbugs captured some precious shots of us hugging each other, of us lost in each other’s eyes, of me lost in my thoughts soaking in the precious moment, and my picture in a ghoonghat. These moments are etched in my brain forever.
